This section of the site profiles some of the men who helped to put a dent in the machinery of organized crime, men like FBI agents Bill Roemer and Joseph Pistone, also Thomas E Dewey and Giovanni Falcone. These men often put their own personal welfare on the line in their fight against organized criminal syndicates like the Mafia. Judge Giovanni Falcone paid with his life when he was murdered by the Sicilian Mafia because of his relentless pursuit of high ranking Mafiosi and his success in building cases against them. Bill Roemer was a thorn in the side of the Chicago outfit for years. Joe Pistone went undercover as Donnie Brasco to infiltrate the Bonanno faction of La Cosa Nostra.
